The real estate market continues to be a hot topic with the national media and we are continuously presented with many national statistics on the status of the residential real estate market. In the past two months, national statistics show an increase in not only the number of buyers entering the market, but also an increase in the sale price of homes. Influenced by this information, buyers and sellers are making decisions about the timing of their move and the prices at which to buy or sell.

When the federal government announced the first-time home buyer’s tax credit last year, the housing industry saw a wave of new buyers eager to take advantage of an unprecedented opportunity. Sellers enjoyed a pool of new buyers trying to meet a deadline. It was a great move for buyers, sellers and our economy.

Buyers, even without the tax credit, are taking advantage of great homes and in towns that they thought they never could afford. Mortgage rates are low and there is many homes available for sale.
